She died for twelve minutes – no pulse, no breath, no brain activity. But then came back with a story of entering a realm where time did not exist and she was enveloped in a feeling of peace and clarity.
So starts another account of a near death experience (NDE) and the result is nearly always the same.
People return with a lack of fear and knowing there is a presence that guides and watches over us with unconditional love. They say, “What I feared no longer has power over me. What I used to chase doesn’t seem important anymore. I trust life’s events.”
This is the Truth the Course teaches, yet making the decision to go all in to receive it can seem hard. Jesus tells us: ⁶For you believe that, in the presence of Truth, you might turn on yourself and destroy yourself.” C13,II,8:6. In other words, we are afraid of what we might have to give up if we go all in.
But NDEs show us that nothing is given up. Instead, the undead report that life becomes happier and less stressful. They live without fear of death; guilt fades away.
Few give away all of their possessions to wander the world enlightened (well, there was that one guy and then he wrote a book about it).
So, if fear of the unknown is holding us back from going all in, it doesn’t have to. The explorers have returned with first-hand accounts. It took less for the pioneers to pack all belongings into covered wagons and make the treacherous trip from cities in the East to the unknown wilderness in the West. We are asked to make a little hop over a fence in the mind. And on the other side? The explorers have told us – peace and happiness.
