As Sherry tells it, she was trying to create a guest suite at her home with a kitchenette. She had a clear picture in mind of exactly how she wanted it to look and she really wanted rustic, pine, kitchen cabinets and a rustic floor lamp. “For at least two weeks, 3 or 4 times a day, I was stalking Facebook Marketplace looking for used cabinets and lamps, but not finding what I wanted,” she said. “I even called a company that makes new cabinets, but they were super expensive and it would take too long.” Then one day, while driving to the store for groceries and just two miles from home, she saw them. Sitting next to bags of remodeling waste waiting for the next day’s trash pickup was a set of beautiful, practically new, pine kitchen cabinets just like the ones she had envisioned. And next to them? A rustic floor lamp.
“Never did I think I would find my kitchen cabinets on the side of the road!” she said.
But rules are rules. And this is how they work:
1. She had a clear vision of what she wanted.
2. She took specific actions toward getting it.
3. She was not wedded to exactly how she would complete her vision.
